SOLAR SINTER
by Markus Kayser is an awesome project that really makes one think about the limits of material and potential ways to approach sustainable design.

Schemata Architecture Office transformed this thirty-five year old shoe store in Ginza, Japan into the new shop for Aesop skin/hair care. By elaborating on the existing brick interior and adding horizontal wooden shelving to display products, they both preserve what's there and make it an ideal space for the brand. So simple, so clean, so good. More images via Frame

The Waterhouse at South Bund by NHDRO is the former Japanese Army headquarters in Shanghai, which has been transformed into this unique hotel. Pictured above is the Paper Chandelier by Studio Job, which compliments the stripped down concrete interior quite nicely. More images via Dezeen.
