This temporary 25 foot sculpture by Eric Remash and Chris Thomas is constructed from 196 2x4s and weighs 2,000 lbs.  The piece was built twice this year, once for Critical Massive and once for Burning Man.  More images and info here.

This gallery by Foster + Partners just opened up around the corner from us on Bowery.  It features a room that moves vertically amongst five floors and appears from the street as a red cube slowly bobbing up and down the facade.

Hel Yes! is a temporary restaurant created by Finnish designers for the London Design Festival.  The tables are constructed using saplings from a forest outside of Helsinki that were destined to become woodchips.  Seating for diners provided by Alvar Aalto's Hallway Chair.

Alvar Aalto's Villa Mairea was commissioned as "an experimental house" and influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water.   Aalto
unsuccessfully tried to convince his patrons to position the house over a stream.
