Originally from the USA, Opt Studios is a Berlin-based husband and wife team focusing on creating visual dialogues between each other, their works and their surrounding environment. Our pieces question the boundaries between art, craft and design, aesthetics and function, concept and practice.

With backgrounds in painting, sculpture and traditional textiles, we have been engaged in a mutual studio practice since 2018, making abstract carpets and color study plinths from reverse cast plaster. Highly intentional color compositions are contained within distinct shapes. Coupling risk and restraint, dense abstraction meets elemental form. Te function of our work intends to illuminate aesthetic ambiguities. Tis intention of embracing the undefned is to seek the creation of questions rather than answers.

The Noble Facets Series presents the materiality of poured polymer plaster rendered as a singular form. Whether of the earth or the human hand, the objects’ origins are ambiguous. Aesthetic nuance achieved via the study of color creates for perceived preciousness.
