3 pieces desk is an object first shown at New Work in 2014, the second solo exhibition of Muller Van Severen at Valerie Traan, Antwerp. Soberness, playfulness and transparency remain the key aspects. This time combined with glossy surfaces and bright orange rusted steel. The polyethylene tabletops and shelves are exchanged for a steel surface lacquered with a thick layer of high gloss paint with a remarkable brush stroke in it. The brush stroke gives the stark lacquer surface a human touch. To contrast the glossy finishing, Muller Van Severen chooses rusted steel for the structures. In this object two movable shelves are added to the otherwise archetypical desk. This piece is handwork done in Belgium.
