Caroline Kable

American artist based in New York City. Her newest collection surrounds the narrative of her recent traumatic brain injury. Over the course of her recovery she began writing again. This process of writing prose has become complimentary to her love of making as words are engraved, etched, burnt or hammered into each piece. With a background in metal fabrication and inspired by a childhood spent in rural Maryland, her work intuitively combines varieties of stone, metal, wood and text. The inclusion of text ingrains a moment of time into the surfaces of her work, and invites the viewer into the artist's story, commemorating experiences during a long journey of pain, beauty and hope.
